BLS for healthcare Providers course (Original 2020) 

The Amercian Heart Association - BLS for Healthcare Providers course is designed to provide a wide variety of certified or noncertified, licensed or non-licensed, healthcare professionals with the skills to keep people alive until they can be brought to a hospital or be treated with more advanced lifesaving measures.

The BLS course covers:

  • Adult and pediatric CPR
  • Two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve mask
  • Foreign-body airway obstruction (conscious and unconscious)
  • Automated external defibrillation (includes child AED update)
  • Special resuscitation situations

This course includes Parts II (Skills practice) and Part 3 (Skills testing). Students are required to bring their online completion certificate. The skill session lasts about 30 minutes depending on how many students are scheduled. Once the skills portion is completed, the student will receive their card.

ACLS Course (Original 2020) 

The ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology.
Skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

MANDATORY PRECOURSE MATERIAL

Fit tests are essential to insuring that a respirator forms a good seal against the user’s face and prevents contaminants from leaking into the mask. Manufactures provide fitting instructions and use limitations on the product package. Respirator face pieces are made in various sizes to fit a wide variety of face shapes and sizes. Mas is included in cost of the course. Cost Per Person $90.00

ECG Prep course

This course is a pre-course option for ACLS & PALS students that need additional help with EKG inturpitation. 
This short course reviews the main features of EKG tracings. A method for analyzing EKGs is also presented. This method includes assessment of rhythm, calculating heart rate, observing P-wave forms, measurement of EKG intervals and segments and the evaluation of other relevant waves. 

Skills taught in the ECG module include: 

  • Heart anatomy
  • Basic electrophysiology
  • Normal ECG measurements
  • Basic arrhythmias

Peripheral IV Skills Certificate Program

This course is an 5 hour class that provides the RN or LPN with the essential knowledge for practicing infusion therapy in any setting. The course includes insertion of traditional over the needle cannula peripheral aka "short" intravenous catheters. Instruction includes the insertion procedure, techniques for proper and successful catheter insertions, care, assessment, and maintenance post catheter insertion.

The Heartsaver® CPR AED course is intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, including: security guards, airline personnel, police, and firefighters.  ​It is also appropriate for lay rescuers who may have a need to respond to an emergency in the workplace, and family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death.

Course Cost: $75.00

HEARTSAVER CPR/AED First Aid Course 

This course is intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergencies including: security, airline personnel, camp counselors, police, firefighters, teachers, day-care workers and physical-fitness trainers.  This course can also be beneficial to any other individuals who want or need first-aid training.  It is also appropriate for lay rescuers who may have a need to respond to an emergency in the workplace, and family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death.

Course Cost: $115.00

HEARTSAVER FIRST AID 

The First Aid course provides first responders with training in basic first-aid procedures. The course covers: First Aid Basics, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, Environmental Emergencies.  It is also appropriate for lay rescuers who may have a need to respond to an emergency in the workplace, and family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death.

HEARTSAVER PEDIATRIC CPR/AED & FIRST AID COURSE 

This course is intended for people who regularly come in contact with infants and children, including: child-care/day-care providers, parents and grandparents, nannies and babysitters, teachers and other educators, anyone else with the responsibility to care for children. The Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course teaches child-care providers and others to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.

Course Cost: $115.00

The Heartcode Heartsaver Skills Course is required for any student who completed the Heartsaver Heartcode Online course through the American Heart Assiciation. This course includes Parts II (Skills practice) and Part 3 (Skills testing). Students are required to bring their online completion certificate. ACLS for Experienced Providers course goes beyond the core ACLS training by offering critical thinking opportunities for those advanced, experienced, healthcare professionals who use ACLS on a regular basis. The goal of the Course is to improve outcomes in complex cardiovascular, respiratory and other (eg, metabolic, toxicologic) emergencies by expanding on core ACLS guidelines and encouraging critical thinking and decision-making strategies. Through instruction and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners enhance their skills in the differential diagnosis and treatment of prearrest, arrest and postarrest patients. ACLS EP course content reflects the most current science from the AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, American College of Cardiology Foundation/AHA Guidelines for the Management of ST-Elevation MI and ACCF/AHA Guidelines for the Management of Patients With Unstable Angina/Non-ST Elevation MI.

This certification training class is designed for seasoned healthcare providers who are proficient in performing BLS and ACLS skills, reading and interpreting ECGs, and understanding ACLS pharmacology and who regularly lead or participate in emergency assessment and treatment of prearrest, arrest or postarrest patients.

Course content includes:

  • Applying the expanded systematic approach (ACLS-EP Survey) to patient assessment, evaluation and management

Course participants must be competent with current ACLS and BLS algorithms and skills. Prior to beginning the focused learning stations all course participants must complete the skills tests and pass the ACLS Provider written exam. Testing includes the following:

  • Pass the 1-rescuer CPR and AED skills test
  • Pass the bag-mask ventilation skills test
  • Pass the Megacode skills test
  • Pass the ACLS Provider exam with a score of 84% or higher


NOTE: Upon successful completion, learners receive an ACLS EP course completion card, valid for 2 years. The ACLS-EP course fulfills the requirements of an ACLS renewal course and the Learn CPR NYC Training Center issues a standard AHA ACLS course completion card in addition to the AHA ACLS EP course completion card to alleviate any credentialing confusion with the Joint Commission or other licensing/credentialing entity.

Prior to taking this course, candidates must have a current Provider Card for the discipline they wish to teach. Candidates must also have aligned with an AHA Training Center that is accepting new instructors for their discipline.

This American Heart Association Family & Friends instructor lead course teaches lay-rescuer skills in CPR; AED use; and relief of choking in Adults, children and infants. The course uses the research-proven practice-while-watching format, and is taught by American Heart Association instructors. This course is ideal for families that want to learn CPR. The course includes a course manual and can be scheduled days, evenings or weekends. this course runs approximately 2 hours.

 

This American Heart Association Family & Friends instructor lead course teaches lay-rescuer skills in CPR; AED use; and relief of choking in infants. The course uses the research-proven practice-while-watching format, and is taught by American Heart Association instructors. This course is ideal for baby showers and is the perfect gift. The course includes a course manual and can be scheduled days, evenings or weekends. this course runs approximately 30 Minutes.


These programs are non credentialed -- no course card will be awarded upon completion.

Following successful completion of the Instructor Essentials Course, candidates must also be monitored by Faculty teaching their first course within six months of completing the classroom portion. Upon successful completion of all steps, candidates receive an Instructor card, valid for two years.

Blended learning includes a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner, and a hands-on session.

For Instructor Renewals, you are required to have taught at least four classes in the past two years (two for each previous yesr) either being the lead instructor or assistant instructor. You are also required to be monitored teaching one course.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THE COURSE?
his course must be completed by candidates who wish to become AHA Instructors. Also, AHA Faculty (Regional and Training Center) who teach instructor courses must complete the online portion of the Instructor Essentials Course for their respective discipline.

This course is designed for any individual who is currently AHA Instructor certified and wishes to transfer to our organization. This fee also applies for anybody wishing to remain affiliated with their primary training center and wish to add our's a a secondary site. The fee for each discipline (eg. BLS Instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor) is $100.

This course is designed for any current American Heart Association (AHA) instructor that wishes to aso teach courses through the American Red Cross. This could open up a greater opportunity for instructors to broaden their teaching experiences. Some of the courses that Red Cross offers include: BLS, Basic CPR & First Aid, Responding to Emergencies (RTE), Wildlife First Aid, Babysitter Training, and much more.
